Eugene Kleyn is the Chief Operating Officer at Xplorobot, a Houston-based company specializing in emissions detection and management. Eugene brings more than 24 years of experience across operations, engineering, and technology in the global oil and gas sector.
After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, Eugene began his career at Schlumberger and later founded EFK Engineering. At Xplorobot, he leads operational strategy and scaling efforts for the company’s methane detection platform.
Xplorobot’s Laser OGI uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) and high-resolution imaging to detect methane emissions down to 1 g/hr. In January 2025, the technology received U.S. EPA approval as an Alternative Test Method (ATM), becoming the first handheld mobile methane detection device to achieve this designation.
Eugene focuses on delivering accurate, labor-efficient, and scalable solutions that help operators meet evolving methane regulations while improving operational performance.
