Dave has over 23 years of experience in an array of industries including aerospace and oil and gas. In 2024, he founded Gaia Oratos, a sustainability and operational performance consultancy. He also consults for the engineering firm, Tegre Corporation. He’s spent nearly 10 years with operators such as BHP and bp and more recently, 2 years with the oilfield service company, ChampionX, where he was the Director of Products for their line of emissions products. At bp, he was hand-picked to build their Low Carbon and Sustainability team responsible for helping their onshore business reach Net Zero by 2050. He evaluated scores of emissions reduction projects, process improvements and monitoring technology to better understand and eliminate their sources of emissions.
Prior to that, Dave was a Development Engineer for bp and BHP responsible for planning all aspects of new well delivery from concept to first production. He successfully brought online 100s of sites and ~1000 wells across the Eagle Ford and Haynesville fields. He was a member of BHP’s Continuous Improvement team and is trained in Lean Six Sigma. He also dabbled as a Drilling and Completions Engineer.
In addition to the oilfield, Dave spent 6 years working at the Johnson Space Center planning the final construction flights of the International Space Station and logistical flights to support the orbiting laboratory. He also helped design the Gateway Space Station scheduled to orbit the moon before the end of the decade.
Dave had two kids, 12 & 10, and he lives in Houston. Dave is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Iraq in 2003. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree in Geological Engineering. He’s also an avid rugby player, coach and fan which he uses as an excuse to travel.
